DS6 started first grade summer session this week. I have to say I am impressed with his teachers' willingness to be flexible. He has had a great first week. When he completes all his assignments, he gets some alone time with an aide and the Plants versus Zombies app on her phone or he can play Minecraft on the classroom computer with friends. PvZ is not approved by all parents but Minecraft is so PvZ can't be in the classroom.

Apparently this set up is really motivating and DS has been getting his work done without the usual prodding. They get a weekly assignment sheet with daily goals and are expected to work independently on most assignments. Once they complete the goals for the day, they get free time.

Yay for something that is working!

Wow. That would motivate my son too! Actually Iam homeschooling and I use Terraria as his reward when he's done withhis work. I does work!! Not many teachers would be willing to do that I suspect....
