Irena, there is a version on the iPad. DS used it on his laptop. There's also software that is similar called Word-Q (or something with "Gold" in it - yikes, my brain isn't working this morning!). I just heard that Word-Q (or whatever) is now available on the iPad. Personally I like Co:Writer better on the laptop, but that's just me.

ps - Irena, when my ds was your ds' age, I did a ton of scribing for him at home whenever he wanted me to for his homework - it was one of the accommodations his teachers allowed. I still scribe for him every now and then when he's tired. I type when I scribe and then ds can edit/etc directly from what I've put down on paper for him.

DD's school swears by her use of Co Writer. It's really more of a work around, though. I don't know that it will improve his spelling. They tell me she can now do all research independently. It learns the words the child uses most and puts them in the pop up menu. Definitely worth checking out if you go the compensation/AT route.

Just wanted to add - this isn't built into the iPad version, but the way Co:Writer worked on the laptop was that it ran sort of "on top" of whatever software you wee using, so you could use it while web-browsing etc.

The built-in word prediction on the iPad has been helpful to my ds too, fwiw.

Thanks all! I am going to look into co-writer and see about doing some tutoring at this place that says they are based on orton-gillingham...
