Okay so DS wants enrichment in his regular math class. He asked the teacher if when the other kids were practicing their skills and since he doesn't need further practice would he be able to do some algebra worksheets/algebra worksheet packet in the meantime. Teacher said yes but that she needs to ask some other math teacher what she could put together for him. That was last week so DS asked if I could come up with some for him and send them in ... he said his teacher would be fine with it.

Anyway, I certainly don't want him doing anything way above his level. Does anyone know of any good beginning "algebra" resources? He's in second grade if that helps. I am totally not a math person and even less of an "algebra" person so I need help finding appropriate material.

Dragonbox App for smartphones/tablets/PC. It's super fun actually.

Otherwise you can just do a google search for Algebra worksheets (try from 4th grade) and you will find plenty of printable pages.

You could also just get a algebra textbook/workbook and send it in with him.

He does love dragonbox but I am not sure that would fly at school with DS doing a "computer game" in class while the rest of the class did worksheets LOL laugh so want to send in some worksheets. I'll look for some fourth grade ones...Thanks!

DS's teacher used to pull some off here for him:

They start very easy (7 + ___ = 12) but progress through material suitable for higher grade levels. You should be able to find something there that fits him where he is.

There is an intro book to Balance Benders called "Balance Math and More - Level 1". Both are from The Critical Thinking Co. which also has a book called "Math Analogies" that he might like...

I'd also look at "Math Paths", "Number Circuits", and "Coin Clues" from Mindware. The latter two aren't exactly algebra, but a lot of critical/logical thinking...
