I'm curious how other parents deal with argumentative and manipulative behavior? For the most part, when it becomes obvious - we point it out directly and explain why our DS7's actions have crossed the line. I've read somewhere that this is a common problem among gifted children.

I'm always looking for suggestions that steer us in the right direction!

In spite of the title, it is actually a great resource to modify one's parenting style to better accommodate the needs of children who are naturally quite adept at manipulation, and it provides a great set of illustrations about WHY it is so worthwhile to do. It's not about punishment or even discipline-- it's about parenting in such a way that you avoid most power struggles to start with, and recognize manipulative behaviors before they suck you into the vortex.

Think I had better read it.
