Wouldn't it be cool to be part of a study where kids are administered all these different tests and see how they match up. Even if I was willing to pay the money, I think my kids would lose interest, so later scores would show it.

    Dottie,

the test that she is going to make is a Dutch one and is the only one used for admision in the new GT schools that are starting in NL.

Besides, right now DD's verbal skills while impressive in some areas, are not what one would expected of a GT child. For example her vocabulary is spread among three (or four if one counts her passive English) languages and she lacks lots of exposure to culture in any of the languages. I can see in the Spanish for example when she sees something that she cannot recognize - something that is common in the spanish culture, like a pig's leg (the famous 'jamon serrano'). You do not see this pig's leg here in the supermarket, so when she saw a drawing of one, she had no idea what was it, but any spanish child will identify without any problem.
The same goes with expressions, and other 'common knowledge' cultural things.

    About the test anyway:

However, level of language development, for example, being able to name objects, characteristics and concepts, can influence the ability to solve the problems correctly. Therefore the SON-R 2,5-7 should be considered a nonverbal test for intelligence rather than a test for nonverbal intelligence.

I just forgoted: the test has been postponed to the 6 of June.

How sweet it is! Now the questions are -
    1) How to let the old school know... and
    2) What school (if any) for next year....

And THAT (the next year part...) is the 10 million dollar question (and just about the only topic that gets talked about in our house these days after the kids are in bed...). I think I'd much rather contemplate a new user name... wink. We continually remind ourselves about what I've seen written here so much about finding the "least worst option." I need to start a new post about how to sort through the "what they say they will dos" to make good guesses about "what they will actually do."
