I think there was a thread like that a while ago, but I can't find it.
Vitus - A swiss movie about a piano prodigy, who is also fascinated with flying and stock market. His parents see him as a concert pianist, but he is not sure... Good family movie (there is only mild reference to sex, which this protagonist calls "voluntary exchange of DNA" - since my youngest is already past her maturation day at school, we all laughed at it.)
Please feel free to add to the list

Oh, Ania, help me our here can't remember the full title... August... something. About two young musicians who fall in love in a night and the parents seperate them. The young woman becomes pregnant, is separated from son at birth and the baby goes to an orphanage. The boy is an incredible natural musician who is driven to find his parents.......
My girls and I watched it while DH was out of town and we all loved it.
Will have to watch Vitus...

What about "Becoming Jane"? It's about Jane Austen.
And "A Beautiful Mind".

Spellbound? It's not about GTness per se, but some of the kids in it clearly are GT.

Thanx Grinity for reminding me about Beatrix Potter movie. I was following it before the release, and then completely forgotten about it!

I don't remember the name of the B. Potter movie, but I really enjoyed watching it - she was quite a person!

Which reminds me, 'The Incredibles' although about 'superheros' have Gifted subplots about being allowed to strech one's legs and use one's giftes. I love how it illustrates what happens to superhero who 'mask' their gifts!
Xmen movies also have this theme, but less optimistically, i think!

I haven't seen it yet, but maybe I'll try to watch it Monday while the girls are at school so I can join in on your PM discussion group.

With Grinity's comment and the need for PM, I'm anxious to watch Vitus. I'm a little behind in my movie viewing list--lots of good ones out these days.

My DD9 and I watched Vitus he other night. We both adored it and DD is still talking about how great it was to see a film about kids "like us." Thanks for the recommendation!

Billy Elliot, about a working class kid who wants to take ballet. Blast from the Past, not about gtness, but the dad and kid are clearly eg/pg, and consequently the family is a little outcast from their neighbors...also just a funny one to watch. And of course, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

Definitely "21"--my older sons loved the book and the movie.
We all really liked Charlie Bartlett, who is a gifted kid in my mind (reminds me of Harold & Maude, one of my old favorites).

21 was pretty good, didn't anyone else find it slightly wanting? It's a great story, and I enjoyed the movie. Not sure the movie did the story justice.
I didn't like the way they portrayed Jill. I mean a girl who is MIT smart and smart enough to be invited to the horrid gambling clique. Kate Bosworth kinda came off as a little vapid, IMO.

^^ I loved that one. Saw it many, many years ago when I was living in London, and recently with my kids. I like the "London version" better, who knows why ???

Invader Zim! Dib is gifted, maybe 2e, and rejected by his peers. Gaz is smarter than Dib, but hides it at school and fits in well socially. As for Zim and GIR, I'll let you decide!
