    Cym-

I'll have to look for that "big book". I like the idea of introducing lots of people and allowing them to read other sources about their favorites. What reading level is it? DD 3 is only at about a 2nd grade level, but I have the feeling she is on the verge of a major leap.

I love hearing about everyone else's geek crushes. Grin, I've heard Franklin was quite the ladies man...

My dd8 also loves Ben Franklin. We saw the Franklin exhibit when it came to town last year and visited Philadelphia this summer. Her class is currently studying biographies so of course she chose to research Ben Franklin. I think she can relate to Franklin because she has many of the same interests and because he was talented in many different areas.

Someone mentioned in another thread that PG individuals can have a difficult time choosing a career path because there are so many things that they can do well. For this reason I am glad she has Ben Franklin as an example of a person who had a variety of talents and left his mark in so many different ways. My dd also admires Leonardo da Vinci. Between Franklin and da Vinci most of dd's passions are covered (reading, writing, science and art).

    Lorel,

I would say it's perfect for your DD3:

"The Kids' Fun-Filled Biographies of More Than 500 People"
By Kidsbooks (www.kidsbooks.com). I think we originally bought it at Price Club discounted from the list price (maybe $20) but all 4 boys have gone through it and loved it. It's definitely for younger children. Kidsbooks also published other great travel-type books (keeps them entertained on roadtrips) like Big Book of Trivia or Questions & Answers (or something like that).

Highly recommended for young readers (up to 4th grade level--for fun).
