After a 5 week break from school for illness, winter break and a week away, Nathan (3) went back to his pre school, and within 3 days was crying, clingy, hitting his brothers, exhausted and starting to "forget" things he had taught himself in terms of reading and maths over the 5 week break.

It was enough evidence for DH to finally agree that he doesn't have to finish off the year and can end this term and then stay home with us.

I am relieved, excited, ecstatically happy that we can finally just get going with homeschooling for everyone now.

And I just had to share again that as parents you really do need to go with your gut and do what's best for your children. Because, personally now, I refuse point blank to see my boys unhappy and frustrated when I can so easily "fix" this one thing.

So excited and had to share where it will be fully understood!

My same age kid is reading this series called Math Monsters. I found them in the non-fiction section of the children's library in the math area. The books are very interesting, easy to read, have charachters and plots, and explain math concepts through story telling. Each book is a quick read, maybe less than an hour. It's for grades k-2. Here's a link so you can see them. I had no idea they had videos. I've just seen the books they had in the library.

Also if you haven't gone to bedtime math. Com yet they'll email you a word problem every day. Sometimes I use it as is, sometimes I change them but they definitely get used.
