My dd was tested for her school's gifted program but they only use half the WISC IV. I'm grateful to have an idea of her abilities but it's a little bit confusing only having half a test! Her scores were
    Vocab 14
    Word Reasoning 16
    Matrix 18

    Symbol search 12
    Arithmetic 11

They said that they estimated her total score to be 127. I assume they mean FSIQ? I'm wondering how they got that score. Do you think they just doubled her half test total or added in average scores from the undone test?

Her GAI would be much higher than her FSIQ score, since she is stronger in the scores that are in GAI and weaker in the scores that aren't in GAI.

Were the scores high enough to qualify her for the school's gifted program?

Do you see challenges on a day to day basis that could stem from a bottleneck of speed or Working Memory?

Welcome and I hope this helps,

Thanks for the replies. Yes she did make it into the program.

The only subject she struggles with is math. She was in the top group of her class in math and she gets new concepts, usually, very quickly. But she hates mental math. That is reflected in the arithmetic score I think! She can add and subtract or multiply smaller numbers in her head just fine when called for. But if I try to open up a Singapore book and work on breaking down #s and putting them back together, tricks for +/- large numbers, she gets ticked off and just wants to use a piece of paper lol.
I am curious if other working memory subtests would come up with similar #s or if it's only numbers she's slower on...

I'm also curious how they came up with the specific subtests they chose.
