Not at all unusual for PGlets to be intense in their exhibition of their stress reactions. Also mot unusual for them to find Preschool Unbearable.....asynchrony is so difficult for all involved. Great that you pulled him and I hope for a speedy recovery. A trip to the doctor seems wise if sympotoms last more than another week.
I would keep a daily journal and rate the symptoms daily because their may bne set backs and it may be seasonal to some extent.
As for pull ups I would ask myself....
    1) Young 3 or almost 4
    2) Would it help me be a pleasanter person to be around?
    3) Was he fully trained or just a bit trained before this started.
It is perfectly fine to announce a 'potty vacation' and back off especially if he is less than a third of the way toward his 4th birthday.

OTOH if you haven't established a relationship with an IQ tester/psychologist and you can afford to, now is a great time to call Ruf or Yermish or Amend and have a professional availible to help you keep an eye on things. It would be nice to get a bedtine routine that works for the whole family. If it is possible.

lyme is pretty common around here also, but even more common: fifth disease. Not sure the joint pain is common in young kids.

I think the fever would point almost any medical doctor to something medical rather than stress related. but that is just my impression.

(I just took my ds11 in for fatigue, general achiness, etc., to an infectious disease specialist and I think the main thing that kept her from declaring this 'all in his head' was that he had low temps for a while, and was 'freezing' a lot for two to three weeks, and then just took forever to recover. Based on that 1 item she did diagnose him with having had a virus and still being in a recovery stage. )

    Much better now, btw.
Fifth disease is called a lot of things; here is one link.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_disease

The lacy rash is nearly useless for purposes of troubleshooting as it only comes after the kid is feeling better, no longer infectious, etc. Just a good identifier after the fact.
I think the red cheeks come and go, though.

So, Doc says "totally healthy" and "has you wrapped around his finger, but trust me, I understand" and "come back if things don't start getting better fairly quickly"

The fever was almost certainly the vax.

Got some additional info about the No Good Very Bad Day. Long story short, they broke a really important meds-related protocol in a subtle way (a 5 sec vs 2 min thing). Once I cut DH of in the middle of the sentence to say that was "totally unacceptable" in a rather harse tone of voice, he decided maybe he'd been right to be angry about it.

And then they called and asked us to change said protocol because they hadn't been able to give the meds "when he needed them." So, like, we informed them that that was a tantrum (ok, meltdown, but they understand "tantrum") and HE DID NOT NEED THE MEDS (For cryin' out loud). And, by the way, why exactly was he asking for his meds by a name we don't use for them, a word he uses (accurately) for something else? eh?

Ug. Good riddance to a bad situation. Now I just have to not let DS know quite how annoyed I am by the way they handled his emotions.

The good news on toilet training is that he's back to 100%. (He's 3:1, but we EC'd, and he's been 95% since he was 11 mos, but... yeah, long, l o n g story) Lyme is generally something people get when they've been out of the country around here wink

I'm venting. Thank you for putting up with my venting. I really feal like I need to keep an even keel for him, and... uh... yeah. Not easy right 'bout now.

Still some symptoms, but the drop off was crazy steep, and now we seem to be on a bit of a long tail. I think the advent of a particularly embarrasing (to the parent) lovey might be semi-permanant. Just my gut feeling, there. He never had any lovies before, at least now we have a lovy story! Sheesh.
