It might also mean the email never went through and is lost in cyber-space smile

I wouldn't read too much into why you haven't received a reply to the email yet - instead find a time when you can ask in person if they received it.

Re what to ask the Ed Psych - don't worry if you don't have all the questions under the sun ready to ask. Chances are the psych will have a lot to discuss with you re his/her observations etc.... so you'll probably develop your questions as you listen. I tend to also have a bunch of questions come to mind after the follow-up meeting/talk... so just tell yourself ahead of time that's going to be ok - if you need to you can always ask more questions later.

    Best wishes,

I am so sorry Colin's mum! I use the term admiringly and I totally see why this could be taken the other way and apologise. Will edit. I watched one of the kids doing some integers the other day when I was a parent helper and it was like magic, watching him work and make new connections that other people would have had to have been explicitly taught.

As a fellow Australian, culturally, "freaky gifted" "freakishly good at..." etc is perhaps more acceptable than in other places. We are um, different, in how we express our affection and/or appreciation of other's strengths. I can think of multiple occasions in which I have heard people praise their workmates by saying something like "John, you're a freak", complete with big smile and thump on the back. Or "John's just freakish that way... He's got this knack for fixing things..."
