Because my ds10 wasn't going to be able to attend the NUMATS ceremony, I called IMSA (The Illinois Math and Science Academy, which hosts the IL state ceremony, and is conveniently very close to us) to try to find the details. Unfortunately, they are only inviting 7th and 8th graders (yes, prospective IMSA students - this is clearly a recruiting tool for them).
We did come to a happy resolution though. My son's godmother is going to take him. I'm thrilled - she's a prof at Notre Dame and she's making the trip from South Bend to Evanston, with a stop at our house - about 4 hours one way! Ds is the 4th child and the baby - you know how they love to be the center of attention, lol! He was THRILLED!! She gets a lifetime of good godmother points for this one!
