Hi everyone I'm a newcomer to here. 2 weeks ago my life was all very ordinary like any family of 4, not even aware of the word gifted"(mind you we live in Sydney Austrlia where there is no such thing as gift or talent!)

It changes suddenly now (I mean to me, not to everyone else in the family) when DD11 took this WISC IV test with a psychologist. The purpose of the test started from a summer camp's requirement and it cost me a fortune to do so! Anyway her result came back last week reading as:

VCI 144 (99.8 percentile) Very superior
    PRI 123 (94 percentile) Superior
    VMI 129 (97 percentile) Superior
PSI 112 (79 percentile) High average
FSIQ 135 (99 percentile) Very superior

Well as you can imagine the amount of time I spent since then trying to interpret the scores! There are still few things puzzled me but one thing I have concluded by reading so many posts here: her low Processing Speed is probably the reason for the poor organization skill. She is in 6th Grade now. But there are still times I have to drop to school stuff that she left at home; So many notices to parents that I have never seen out of her bag; She never seems to have time doing her homework despite that she is still in the top of the class.

Can someone here reassure me that these are the symptoms of low PSI (compared to her other scores)?

PS. We dont have any of the fascinating GT system here as in the States. School doesnt want to see that at all. But after reading all these posts, I now find the test a really good way to understand your children.

    Does a cause b
    Or does b cause a
Or are both a and b caused by c?

A good neuropsychologist should be able to help you figure this out. Or start some DIY (do it yourslf) home training if you have the stamina.

I love love love deb goldberg s book called, the Organized Student. Buy it read it and see if you can apply it. If not the next step is to amp up your parenting. For that I like lisa Bravo s Transforming the difficult child Workbook.

But I definetly think that all those symptoms are hightly associated with that score imbalence. You are on the right path.

    Welcome
