I'm new to the forum and the whole GT process. When I asked my 2nd grade son's teacher for his scores she reported 238 in reading and 216 in math. I don't yet have the information on percentiles, but I know the district aims for 179 in the fall for reading and math. We don't have GT in our district and I am wondering if I need to be looking for another district with more programs/opportunities. Are his scores as good as I think they are?
    Thanks for any help.

we dont have the 2011 scales yet. From 2008 scales the 238 reading is above the 98th percentile for fall sixth grade. The 216 math is 98th percentile for fall 3rd grade. Keep in mind these are not off the new 2011 norms so the percentile will change accordingly.

All that being said, these are great scores for fall 2nd grade. I would be asking for acceleration.

Thank you. That gives us a better understanding of where he's at.
