This is slightly OT, but kind of not. Our dd's school is in to Gardner's multiple intelligences (here in Australia we seem to have take an particular and peculiar liking to Gardner, so much so that even he has criticised our use of his theory!)

They have dd's >99.9% test results etc, but sent her home with a multiple intelligences checklist to see 'where she was gifted'... right... All of the questions were on it were on what she likes to do, rather than how well. For my part I had to rate whether or not she enjoyed various activities less than, as much or more than the 'usual' child. Well at the time dd enjoyed reading about as much as a 'normal' child. But she's read 6 grades + above a normal child - but that wasn't covered anywhere. What a crock!!

Anyway, just venting and agreeing that these kinds of checklists are WAAYYY too subjective.

"she is 2e and didn't fit the profile of what most teachers saw as gifted."

This is my DD as well. She was just diagnosed with ADHD. I wonder perhaps if that may give us some wiggle room for entance into the program?

That's my dd's second "e" as well. Like the pp, my dd has WISC scores at 99.9+ and that doesn't necessarily mean "gifted" to the school system.
