Maybe you could start a little "grouplet" of your own? We have a homeschool hotline here where people post activities that they organise themselves; do you have something like that? You might try suggesting that anyone who has read and enjoyed a certain book come over one afternoon to discuss it and eat cookies--the book you choose will likely dictate the character of the group in some respects. Or set up a little math circle that meets weekly at your place? Or a kids' writing group, or monthly kids' poetry night? Or a kids' history club that has monthly field trips to historic sites? Or a monthly Blokus/Set/Mastermind/whatever tournament?

Just a few ideas--maybe it is just our particular area, but we have in general found it easier to meet kindred spirits at events we have had some hand in starting up ourselves.

We do have a yahoo group for gifted kids in our state, it's not terribly active however. Perhaps I should put out an APB on there?

I did try to start a meetup group, but got little interest. frown

    Thanks for the tips!

I can spell, I just can't type on my iPad.
