Nathan - 2 years and 7 months now has always seemed so chilled and relaxed compared to his big brother that I often fear that I am not aware of him enough.

This week we had a playdate cancelled at the last minute and so I sat with him and asked him what he wanted to do. He wanted to do some dot to dots and colouring, and so I printed some and chatted to him while he did them. Then he told me he wants to write words (he has been writing random letters for a while on a write and wipe board) so I printed some guide dot letter words - he chose to write baby's name and then grabbed DS4's book to write numbers.

I was totally blown away at what he was able to do that I need to share them and my excitement somewhere. So thanks for looking and for providing a place for me to brag a bit How awesome are these for my little guy??!!??

We had a bumper week and I am still so amazed that he is so relaxed about it all. Maybe because I am so much more relaxed this time round

I love it! The coloring takes so much patience. If you would like to, when you're ready, I recommend the handwriting without tears workbook because it gives you the parent a clear language for discussing line formation, such as "up like a helicopter" and "slide down the pole".

Currently he is learning handwriting on the Leapfrog Explorer console; he loves his older brother's one so much we had to get him his own.... and he is so patient with himself on it (for the most part)

I see you do the same thing I've been doing in that you date your son's work! Do you also keep a diary?

I have never tried Nathan on mazes hehe... I only let Aiden try them when he was 3 already - and he loved them, so I should try him on them.

I date his work in case I need to show in the future what he did and when. Even though we are at a gifted school, I am busy contemplating requesting a meeting for Aiden for more advanced work (long story) - and Nathan will start there next January and I want a portfolio of sorts to show his teacher so that she goes in knowing what's coming.

That's why I started a diary when I was pregnant. I wanted our son to have highlights of what he did and when, too. It just turned out to be stuffed with more than, "Today ds learned to brush his teeth."

The mazes were suggested to me by an educator to help ds with his pencil control. His handwriting has improved, but he still refuses to print in lowercase letters. *sigh* Good thing he's not online-every sentence would be a SHOUT!
