It seems that as soon as I added the numbers as a guide he was much more comfortable colouring in. My DS4 does not enjoy colouring - will only do it because he feels he has to for school. he also prefers the by number thing. Mom to 3 gorgeous boys: Aiden (8), Nathan (7) and Dylan (4)
