As for size, dd5 is almost the biggest in her current k class, so if she stayed in k for another year, she might end up "too tall" and be made fun of; Perhaps the ladies at the school will sympathize and help me move her along to a better height-fit. wink

We are working on it. I havent yet sent in the paperwork. I am not sure where exactly he is with reading... what is a rit 170? He is reading just not sure of the level. I have no doubt he will do fine in math. He completes my first graders 1st grade enrichment math. This process is new to the district. It wasnt available when we registered dd for kinder 2 years ago.

I will update as we go thru the process

Just to warn you, I used that tactic once and failed. DS was accelerated to 2nd in our local district. The previous spring in kindy, he had done 3/4ths of the 2nd grade math curriculum, so we were surprised when they had him doing the exact same curriculum, from the beginning of the book, when he started 2nd. While trying to convince the school that he should not have to do 2nd grade math all over again, we posed the following question: "So if there were 2 classes of second graders, and Mrs. A's class made it all the way through the book, but Mrs. B's class only made it 3/4ths of the way through, but all the kids were promoted to 3rd, are you telling us that you would have all of Mrs. B's class take the entire 2nd grade math over again?" To which we received the response, "Yes." Sometimes arguments just don't work, and it's not because they weren't good arguments. From this experience, I learned that it is unwise to ask such questions with a tone suggesting you seriously cannot believe they would answer yes, but rather try to do more of a Columbo-type ignorant tone...

Just saw this response, St. Pauli Girl, yeah, sometimes people apparently just lie when responding to logical questions, just because the truth is counter to what they think is 'right'.
    Sheesh.

Still waiting on the school to call back, I am going to call them myself on Monday; basically last time I called they said they'd call before the end of the year. And what am I supposed to do, wait until the last day of school, at which point they'll say wait until the fall?

Chris, I tried for early entrance but he didnt make the cut for reading. With his math score, he could be doing second grade math in the fall. Reading he is above average current kinder (78th percentile) but they wanted 90th percentile. Kindergarten here we come.. ughhh. We have a meeting on Tuesday with the principal to try and get the math acceleration he needs starting in kinder ( i really dont want enrichment)
