I am wondering who did the evaluation (school or private), and what question(s) you wanted answered. Is the student struggling in school? Is there boredom? How is attention? Were concerned about anything you were observing as it relates to school and life?
I'm with Dottie - no diagnosis can be made based on one test alone. While the WISC does give you some important insight into his profile, areas of strength and challenge, it cannot be used to diagnose an LD or much of anything. While kids with LD often have scatter between their scores with lower PSI, WMI, this alone does not indicate what the problem is. It does seem that your child is a visual thinker and I'd want more info in the following areas based on the few snipits that you've shared:
Academic testing (you said he had the WIAT - what were the subtest scores?)
Memory testing (short, long term, visual, verbal)
Speech and Language (is there a language issue that is related to the lower VCI and reading issues)
Reading evaluation (CTOPP, GORT, TOWRE and others)
The Stanford Binet is another IQ test that measures many of the same skills as the WISC. The construct behind the test is slightly different, and I would ask the evaluator why the SB would be a good choice. Another option would be a non-verbal IQ test such as the C-Toni that does not use language. If language processing is an issue (and I am not sure based on the info you've provided), it may give you a better read of his thinking skills.
