The Justin Chapman story just blows my mind. That news all hit before we were interested in IQ testing and PG boards, but he's only a year or so older than my oldest child. The whole situation is so very disturbing, but I've been in online discussions where I could almost imagine something like that having its impetus. I don't believe the child is of average intelligence, and he might very well have been PG by 99.9th standards. That's a hard enough life to live already, without going to such extremes. It just breaks my heart. I hope he's well, and can pick up the pieces for adulthood in a few years.

I have never heard of Justin Chapman until reading the links in this thread. His story is so sad and I really hope the best for him. I agree that he is probably PG but his mother's need to push him to be the ultimate has harmed not only him but the gifted community as well. While looking up more information about him I came across a piece for gifted teachers using his case as why they need to be on the lookout for the pushy parents.
