It's 30 o'clock!
The boy has been trying to tell time lately. Not long ago he would tell me, It's 30 o'clock mom! Now he's making up "real" times. He tells me it's 9:00 any time after dinner. Bedtime is 9 o'clock. He tells me it's 11:30 various times of morning. He has always had his own internal clock. He would ask "where's da-da" an hour before he got off work every day like clockwork when he a year and a half or so. He knows when it's time for bed.
I bought a $3 clock from the Family Dollar. I took it apart. I painted both hands with Wite-Out. I wiggled the second hand with a pair of tools until they broke. I made the big hand orange and the little hand green. I outlined the hours on the face green. I wrote #s 1-59 with a red ball point pen in the little black dashes on the edge.
I like it better than a Judy clock because this clock, mounted at his own eye level in the living room, will give him the real time throughout his day.
This is my own clock. He was trying to teach himself to tell time with this:
