I just spotted this same article (AP) in the NYT. We can only hope that more districts pick up on this idea!! It has always seemed to me (well, at least since 2nd grade, while I was agonizing in "reading circle" while listening to classmates stumble through Dick & Jane) that this was a MUCH more appropriate way to run an educational system.
