i could spit fire at the letter i received today that said my son's reading ability was average- 63% for other children his age- 4 years, 2 months. i would like to meet the 37% of children that can read at or above his level.

one concern is that when my son came out of the test he said, "the lady said she wanted me to read some words, but it was okay if i didn't. so i didn't." he does have sensory integration disorder and can have off moments. but he can freaking read! he is crossing over into the second grade level with amazing fluency and comprehension....and they say he is average and needs to start k in a year and a half...to what? learn a letter a week?

so stupid. today i hate public education and the way they punish smart kids.....well...i guess my kid is just "average." can't wait to see that a 1/3 of his kindy class is reading at a third grade level in 1 1/2. ugh. bug.

what would you do? i'm thinking homeschool is our only option. as it is when i give him a first grade book and he reads it perfectly he tosses it back on the table and says, "don't you have anything hard?"
