chess club, science olympiad, power of the pen, spelling bee, math olympiad

If a school had all of these opportunities, how significant is it? I'm not sure what amount of time is involved. I would assume that these are at different times of the year? Or is it typical to have to choose. These are all things DS would be interested in at a potential school.
