Dottie is the expert! I just wanted to give for comparison our experience with our older uneven child. She had a similar IQ score on the WISC at 7.5, but her scores were much more uneven and the total score didn't reflect what we were seeing in life, so I am not as quick to ascribe the moderately gifted label to her. For instance, her Perceptual reasoning index subtest scores consisted of a 19+, 18, and an 8. Her WJ-III (achievement) scores looked very similar with a few falling at avg and a few at 99.9+. She also was not getting her needs met in school and stood out in GT classes and when accelerated.

While we have not retested IQ, she has had lots of achievement tests done since that time and we have seen some of the uneveness level out as she has gotten older. She still has her strengths and weaknesses, but overall there aren't wild variations btwn the strengths & weaknesses. Like Dottie mentioned, I'd wait a bit before retesting (maybe until he is 9 or 10) and then retest IQ if there seems to be a reason to do so like school isn't fitting as well anymore.
