I'm new to this forum and very glad I found it. My DS, age 5.3, is in Kindergarten this year at our local public elementary school. It is going very well. His teacher recommended I look for some math websites on-line to really challenge him. I came across EPGY and before I commit to the fees for the classes I wanted some feedback from people who have started this a the K level.
His teacher this year says he is a super star in math and told me he needed more of a challenge if he was going to continue enjoying school. So here I am looking at EPGY and hope someone can give me some guidance.
Specific questions I have are...
Is it worth it?
Do most school districts recognize advanced achievement through EPGY transcripts?
How often will my son need to be doing the classes? Everyday? Four times a week for 20 minutes? It appears that it is go at your own pace format for the younger grades, which I like.
He has taken the WPPSI-III and the Woodcock-Johnson within the last year and his scores were high, but I don't know the cutoff.
I think EPGY has their own on-line acceptance exam which I know my son would love to take. Can anyone tell me how long it is so I can give him an idea of the length of time he needs to work at it.
Any comments are most welcome and thank you!
