Hi Trinity (Grinity),

I absolutely think IQ testing is useful, but only questioned beyond getting into DYS, whether further evaluation was necessary (my DH doesn't think so expense-wise). I've explained to other parents that I think testing gives Mom heads up about all the work she's going to have to do trying to find the best ed setting for a kid (and the expense of extras).

The are pros and cons to every ed program I believe. PEGS has been very good for my kids, but I've had to push on math, hate all the time spent on spelling, wish there were more literature studies (there are some), would like a more structured history study (seems like they pick and choose), more hands-on science experiments, would love to see a dramatic production, and don't like lost time due to behavioral problems of some kids, more field trips, etc. Always room for improvement, even though it's the absolute best for my kids in this town (maybe state) for elementary school, short of homeschool (which I really don't think I could do).

Anyway, I'm delighted that DS 11 qualified for summer programs with SAT! I don't know if he'll do it or if he's interested but I wanted him to have opportunities like DS 13. He's felt "passed over" because I haven't offered him an online course (DS 13 took one and DS 9 is taking one). I didn't mean to skip over him, but he's busy and well placed...Oh well. Mom will always be the villain. So now he's going to try a writing course and I hope he will buckle down.

Dottie, your radical accel seems very well-thought out. Keep moving ahead.
