First, I'd like to thank everyone here for being so supportive in this forum. I had no idea that this vast amount of information was going to be applicable to our family. I've been reading posts for months trying to figure this all out.
My ds is 8 and I just thought all kids did the things he did, until he got to school. I would be helping out in classes and started to see what typical kids did and thought 'oh, boy.' and then saw him become more and more unhappy in school. What was happening with my 'bright', happy boy? We then had a terrific first grade teacher who said 'yes, he reads 6 years above his grade level and I don't know where he is mathmatically, I believe he is highly capable'. The school system has a full time gifted program at 3rd grade, we are fortunate. Second grade was miserable but during the year they did the screening for the gifted program. During the CoGAT testing he had the flu and his scores were way off and he would have missed out on all the district programs. I decided to have him tested and the psychologist administered the WISC IV. These are his results: 8 years 4 months

The only thing that could have affected results was that he has some sensory issues, some with eating (aka picky eater) and was starving by the time I picked him up.
The psychologist didn't mention GAI, ceilings,extended scoring or scatter. I'm wondering if this test is accurate or if there is a different one that would give more information.
By the way, he did get in the full time gifted program and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.
