So I am still somewhat skeptical but it looks like we are off to a good start to school this fall. I thought I would share our experiences. We did testing with DS4 in March. We sent the full evaluation to the school district in April for them to review and requested a meeting afterwards. A week later they set up a meeting with the school principal and asst. superintendent of curriculum. We met briefly to talk about DS4, I suggested they meet him and they thought that would be great. I brought him in to school on Wednesday for an hour and a half. They apparently had him spend time in a K class and a first grade class. They called today to say that they would like him to skip K and start first grade. They said that after school starts they will see what additional subject acceleration he will need, but they think that will be a good start. I am still in a little bit of shock. They really seemed to get him and I am hopeful. I had been quite sure that I was going to have to fight them to skip him, but I didn't really have to say a thing. That was a pleasant surprise. I am sure that we will have some challenges ahead as he is probably on the 4th grade + level in some areas, but it's a good start at least.
