I laughed at Mamabear, whose child was called "hurricane." We call our three (boys, now 5, 3, and 1) our three "tornadoes." We have never had a child who could sit still as a toddler for a library storytime or any other class, for that matter. They love to be read to at home for LONG periods but out in the world there are too many distractions and they are too curious. We were actually kicked out of a toddler storytime class when my middle child was 2. The same child also took music and we stopped after a couple of sessions because he just got bored and it was obvious that he was frustrating the teacher, who couldn't handle his energy very well. During one of our last classes, he got his head stuck behind the piano trying to see what the back of it looked like, LOL!
It must be especially hard if your child wasn't always like that. Mine have been "tornadoes" since they could walk. I always watch in amazement as other parents sit quietly with their toddlers in the library or any other public place while mine are racing around like whirling dervishes. I think a lot of it is temperament, but your daughter could be going through a phase, or, as someone else mentioned, she could just be ready for something new. Once she hits three there are even more "class" options so you might want to try another type of class. One thing I've noticed is that mine always do better when I'm not there. My just turned three year old started a swimming class by himself about a month ago and he is doing really well (his teacher says).
