I've told you all along that my school has been amazing in meeting the needs of DS6. But today, the Principal called to ask if I could meet with her prior to my son's IEP, scheduled for the first of May.
Imagine my surprise upon walking into her office and being asked to define "My Ideal" for my son for next year. It was like being handed the golden ticket!
We talked about the multi grade skip, we talked about further acceleration for math. We talked about time with his age mates (even though he doesn't like them). With each point, she asked me to explain my reasoning behind it. When we were all done, she explained the exercise.
She is meeting with the Director of Special Ed and the Asst. Superintendant to gain permission for DS' program for next year. She said that she felt that I had better arguments than she does and wanted to have good answers. How cool is that? She told me that if she doesn't get the kind of response she wants, she's going to set up a meeting for me with the "alphabet folk"!
