I'm on board with what Kriston said, though. The exta stuff I get on sale is usually complementary and meant to keep the little munchkins happy and busy.
HKC, we liked Aleks.com for Math last year. It's a computer program that has algorithims built in, meant to assess readiness levels while learning. DD8 could progress at her own rate, I was not pushing, nor was anyone *holding her back*. She really liked it and it gave me a better idea of *where she was* as far as grade level.
Kaplan's Score program is pretty good and DD6 is using it. It's similar with the assessment algorithims, must be the trend for computer based learning. It's more expensive than Aleks per month, but for unlimited access to computer math and language arts plus 2 hours of in house tutoring a month, it's *okay*. I guess it's hit or miss with the tutors, but she likes it and it's a good way for me to see where she is without having to figure it out on my own. Plus she's pretty independent and doesn't want mommy teaching her all the time.
