I've heard mixed reviews on the SIG camps. One HG+ kid I know loved it, but other families have said that it isn't near challenging enough for PG kids. I think it may be better than regular academic camp, but not as strong as CTY, but that's my impression based upon feedback form others. My kids have not done either CTY camp or SIG. I'd suggest that you go ahead enroll him in the course he is interested in, despite the higher grade. Make it clear that this is what he is interested in, and you will not be sending him if he is not permitted to take this course. SIG is more likely to be flexible with the age requirements than CTY, I believe.
