We use both Beast Academy and IXL in our household. Only DYS DS9 uses Beast Academy and IXL for other subjects like LA, Science and social studies (you can subscribe to a package for all four subjects). Non DYS DS10 uses IXL as a supplement to his school work in all four subjects. He's in advanced math so we feel it is sufficient challenge for him right now. We may start AoPs with both kids at the same time.
I agree with acquinas' review with BA. Even though my DS9 is not a very mathy kid, and he is not a reader, the graphic novel format in the text book really helps him to get into the topics and learn math. We started off Book 3 very slowly but have picked up the pace a little bit at the end of book 3 and now we are finally on book 4. My intend is to have him complete book 5 some time next year and move on to AoPs with his brother.
