Update: so both my kids are now DYS. I'm hoping we could really use this as a resource for advocating for DD. As for DS, he is already in high school and is for the first time happy at school. But because of some really bad experience in elementary and middle schools, he has built quite a bit of sarcasm toward "the system". I never really seriously thought about applying for DYS for him because our district has a really strong reputation and I just felt that we were kind of stuck in terms of what could be done. In hindsight we probably should have applied for DS earlier...
