You may already be aware of this: While some gifted programs may be flexible and provide the appropriate level of curriculum and pacing for each student, other gifted programs simply teach "one year ahead." You may wish to ask gently probing questions when you tour the school. Having your child shadow can also provide good insight into the quality of the gifted program.
