It's not impossible to lose data but it may be more of an issue of the teacher not wanting to enlist the help of the tech support to retrieve the data. It is my understanding that the district also has some discretion on how to set parameters for the test. I know that at one point, DS/DD told me that the district modified the Math Map so everyone answers a certain number of questions even with the "adaptive" feature functioning. I also don't like the way it is administered. DS always completes each section in a single session because he is fast but DD often has to finish in a second session and a few kids who are very slow even take a third session which means that a single test can be spread over as long as four weeks if there is a holiday in there. I heard that in middle school they do move them along so that while it isn't timed in the sense of rush-rush for most people, there is a limit to how long the testing can be extended.
