Hi Ania,

I'm very interested in getting our Math Club going, so thank you for all the info and advice! I really like the meeting in the morning (instead of after school) and testing during school. I met with the principal and the math teacher at our middle school. Both seemed interested, though the math teacher is writing her doctoral thesis this fall so she asked me to do all the ground work (register for competitions, remind her of dates, help with sessions) while she could provide materials to prepare them. It is not optimal, but at least I'm hearing support. If we participated in the ones I've looked up, I have 18 tests (not counting second rounds if we make it). Are there any from the below you'd say are not worth it?

State test (Round 1 - Nov)
Continental math league (5 tests)
Purple Comet (1 test)
Math Kangaroo (1 test)
AMC 8 (1 test)
Math Counts (regional - Feb)
Math Olympiad (5 tests)
Rocket City (3 tests)

The teacher bought AoPS books to help start preparing and have several sample tests of AMC, plus her own materials.

We're a small school, only 60 students total, so promotion is not a problem. We'll probably have 12 kids interested. Still, I'm so excited!
