IME yes. Last year (grade 1) DS was very angry. He was angry that it was too easy (math & science) and he was angry it was too hard (writing). This came out in all sorts of ways but the worst of it was directed towards us at home. A month in the school recommended we test and we learned he's gifted/LD. Things improved a bit when they started accommodating the LD and we started implementing some of the strategies from "The Explosive Child". We also do a LOT more after school to satisfy his appetite for science and math which has taken the edge off enough to get him through the school day. I'm working on advocating for something on the gifted side in school but it has been a long slow battle.
