cee, there are online high schools that provide official transcripts, but whether or not those transcripts will be recognized for either placement or actual high school credit in a public high school is totally dependent on your local school district.

True-- but public and accredited online schools, the answer is mostly that they are treated like any other school transcripts.

In other words, administration will match up requirements and try to parse out which course equivalents have already been taken, etc.

What I was trying to say and might not have been clear about is that it's the public school's choice (or any school's choice) re whether or not they choose to accept the outside course as either credit or placement or nothing. Our experience so far with our particular school district has been we've run into a real brick wall re willingness to accept credit from other institutions for placement (I haven't even broached the subject of requesting actual credit hours).
