Thank you for the replies everyone! I always appreciate your perspectives and input on things.
I am going to discuss with the teacher on Tuesday at our conferences. I did verify that the Reading test WAS indeed on the day that my DD got off the bus with a fever, so I am sure that had a lot to do with the score.
That being said, I did purchase a 5th grade vocabulary workbook for gifted and talented. In addition to working in that, I am having her write down any words that she does not understand and look them up in the dictionary and write them in a notebook, along with a sentence using the word in proper context.
So far she is loving this task, so I think we should definitely improve her reading scores in the Spring.
