My ds4 is ready now but here kids start school on their 5th birthday and starting early is specifically prohibited by the education act, 1981 ammendment. If I could I would start him at the beginning of the next academic year in February about 3 months before his 5th birthday. Your child should be fine. There are some kids who benefit from being held back but if they are ready academically at the right age they need to go unless there is a major additional problem. Though is the foundational year compulsory? Your child may find it deathly boring.
