I had posted earlier about choosing a kindergarten for dd3.5. We just learnt 3 weeks ago that dd's current Montessori school is closing the end of this school year. Which means I need to find her another school by end of this month. Arggh! I feel like crying. We have visited 3 schools already and dd has given them all 0 points ( compared to million points for her current school). Anyway, I am conflicted and need help. The school I really like, Montessori, is 1/2 hr commute and most expensive. Other cons are larger class size (20-24 kids per classroom). The second best is 10 minutes from work and home, a tad cheaper and on paper is very good- environmental stewardship, constructivist teaching, etc. however, the teacher is a dictator. She had to control every single activity of every single kid. She was task focused and wanted to get through the checklist for the day whether or not the kid is ready to move on. Stark opposite of Montessori focus and you are done when you think you are done. Dd has really long attention span and can spend all day, ie 3 hours, on just one activity. What should I do? Please help me think straight. I am losing it:(
