There was (and still is) a heated discussion on CC re: the above mentioned article.
I just went to the link you posted for this thread on CC. I was blown away by some of the posts. I guess I'm too naive; I never would have expected anyone to be so negative. I mean, I mentioned that I wanted to go on those trips too, but I said that because I think it's SO COOL. What an incredible way to teach those subjects. But even all the trips in the world wouldn't guarantee her perfect scores on those college entrance tests without her own ability. Do people really not see that?
When I venture out of my bubble on the internet, I'm reminded of why I feel so at home and comfortable here on this board. Aside from the one bad experience we had a month or so ago, everyone is so supportive.
And neato, I'm so very sorry to hear about your daughter's situation. I hope you all find some peace in the resolution.
