Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I am doing snack as soon as he gets home and letting him have some downtime. Also, bedtime is an hour earlier, which he happily goes as he says he's exhausted. DS5 ( now that I looked up the acronyms) has started saying some interesting things about school: kids talk differently from him (we live in a city, thus mixed demographics). I think that's what he's referring to. Also, went to the library, but was not allowed to look at books. They were read about about the rules. He is not happy about the books they are being read to, saying that they're for toddlers and babies. I have observed him being very friendly and is telling me that he's trying to find a friend. He will, I know, because he knows if the other won't respond to him, he will quickly change the subject, unless he thinks the child should know what he's talking about.
Anyways, I'm trying to be patient. I had contacted the prinicpal before school start and gave me instructions on how to proceed, so I'm trying to comply. The principal had suggested I email the teacher at the end of this week. I am a little nervous about the teacher, because although she has been teaching awhile,I have heard she is strict and kind of rigid. (I felt like DS5 told me an interesting example. On friday, they can play with toys. So, the teacher set up 4 stations (1-blocks, 1- legos, etc) and she grouped the kids, then they were timed and when the timer went off, they had to move to the next station. I do understand the lessons learned behind this, but DS5 was very upset about it.)We'll see....
