I had my son retest on the SCAT test. We had thought that the test center could provide a "non-spinny" chair (a chair not on wheels). However, when we got there, they said we had needed to get an accomodation for that, so he took it on a chair with wheels again.
They did give him a stool to rest his feet on, and THAT prevented him from spinning around!
He got a 71% verbal and 87% math (percentile). He missed qualifying for the High Honors in math by only one question! Maybe next year.
I've had him do two pages a day out of a 5th grade mathworkbook, so I guess it has paid off. He has just picked it up almost by osmosis. He has a documented processing disorder (learning disorder). He has extended time in his IEP for tests but has never used it. I was pleased that he could finish the test (55 questions in each part in 22 minutes).
He enjoyed taking it. I think I will have him take it once a year just to have that experience. The CTY classes are so expensive that I don't know if we will ever use them.
