Hello all...I'm just stepping a toe into these deep waters! My daughter (10) was just tested with the WISC IV with a GAI of 150. We were told she needed a 130 to enroll in the gifted program (which would then almost guarantee her a spot in the medical magnet school we are interested in). We went ahead with the testing just for the heck of it, almost, and at the last minute. Now everyone is all in a tizzy with this score...it is the most bizzare thing. Honestly we have always known she was bright and I think I would have been surprised if she didn't do well in some form on the test, but... she doesn't do calculus problems in her head. She can't tell you what day of the week july 7 1932 was on. No rain man things happening for sure haha! This seems like a great place to get some perspective (the psychologist recommended the DYS program so I've been enjoying the info found here!). Any advice? Is this truly an exceptional score? We're going to try the Explore test next month to start the application process for DYS. Anyone else look at their kiddo across the table and feel a little like the Twilight Zone is taping in
your house? smile
