Hi all.

This board was recommended to me by a friend who has a gifted child, and who has been telling me for years that my son is gifted and to get him tested.

We've taken a wait-and-see approach, and now I'm wondering if maybe I should have been more proactive. Oh well... hindsight is 20/20, right?
He is in first grade and his teacher actually recommended that we get him screened and tested for giftedness. I met with the gifted teacher, who told me about the screening and testing process. The school screens students using the KBIT-2. The gifted teacher told me that a student needs a score of 45 to pass the screening and move on to the next step of the process. I told the gifted teacher we definitely wanted to move forward with the process, and to please let me know when they wanted to screen him. Apparently they screened my son yesterday, and I didn't know it until today. I'm not sure why they didn't inform me beforehand. At any rate, the teacher wrote me today to tell me that my son scored a 42, which means he did not pass the screening. I asked for his individual scores for each component of the screening, and he sent them to me.
I'd love it if someone could help me to interpret these. My son's verbal score seems high, but his overall score was brought down by the non-verbal. I still really feel that he needs the gifted services and I want to do what I can to push to see that he gets them.
This is all new to me and I'd love as much help and advice as you can offer. Thanks for reading!
