These courses will be completely on-line.
- Intro to HTML will teach kids the basics of making simple web-pages. We plan to offer follow-up courses in the future to teach kids more advanced web development skills.
- Intro to Linux for Computer Programming will teach kids how to download and use the Linux operating system. Linux is required to take the Intro to Python class. It will also be useful for kids who want to make web pages. If you live in or near NJ, this class will also be offered as a one-day in-person option in the fall and again during the HEROES conference in January.
- Into to Python requires that students complete Intro to Linux first and take either an in-person or on-line assessment to make sure they are ready for this class. Python is a computer programming class similar to C/C++
Students should have either completed Algebra or demonstrate a similar math ability by submitting SAT scores with at least 550 on the Math section. Students must qualify for HEROES in order to register for any of these courses. See HEROESgifted.org for qualification requirements.
